Comic Related Interview

Tuesday night Chuck Moore of Comic Related called me up and we talked about The Dreamer. You can listen to the interview here at Comic Related’s website!

The first five minutes of the podcast consists of Chuck, John and Brant making fun of my braces and remincing about the time Brant ate my donut… on my birthday! The actual interview is about 45 minutes. Enjoy! It was a really good time because Chuck, if you haven’t met him, is one of the most gracious men you’ll find in the comic world. He is always smiling (which is a feat in itself by Sunday night of a comic con!) and he is genuinely excited about comics–from the smallest Indy guy to the biggest of big names, he talks to us all and treats everyone with equal respect and enthusiasm. The night before this interview he binged on the entire Dreamer archives and his new found fandom shines through the interview.

And since it’s a new day, you all can VOTE again in the TGT Tournament. You guys are doing awesome! I’ve managed to maintain the lead, though its a small one. Thanks for all the votes so far!

Come back tomorrow for a new page and the winner of the FanArtPolooza Contest!!

New Pages- 21 & 22!

New Pages 21 & 22! I cannot remember the last time I had this much fun drawing comic pages. These were a blast.

Julie did an amazing job, didn’t she? She and Alan Evans deserve a hearty round of applause… he’s been helping flat the pages, she’s had impossible deadlines from me, topped with almost weekly conventions, and now some sort of crazy ear infection. So a hearty huzzah for Julie! She’s a trooper. Next week, on account of this and C2E2, there will only be a one page update, and then come back on the 23rd for the Issue finale.

Speaking of C2E2, it’s the newest Chicago Comic Convention, and it’s happening next weekend. Look for me in Webcomic Alley. I’m splitting a table with Alan Evans, and I’m not sure what I’ll be listed as but it’s booth WC_O. I will hopefully be listed by my name, but if not, look for me at the Rival Angels table! I’ll have a huge Bea banner behind me, of the graphic novel cover. Hard to miss. So stop by and say hello. I’ll also be a guest on the “Do We Really Need Another Women in Comics Panel?” panel Saturday at 5:30 in room E353.

Oh, and special news today: it’s my 30th birthday! You can wish me a Happy Birthday by VOTING for The Dreamer this week! (Beyond altruism, you’ll also get a sneak peek at next Friday’s update!) You could also buy yourself a present in my honor, something from the Dreamer Store perhaps…? :)

Swords & Script Interview

Last year I met writer Jim Gourley at the Free Comic Book Day event at Comics 2 Games in Florence, Kentucky. We had an interesting conversation about history and research. We’ve stayed in touch and recently he asked me if he could interview me for his blog Swords & Script. He asked me some of the most interesting questions about my story that I’ve ever been asked, mostly about the war aspect. I hope you enjoy it! It’s unlike any of the other interviews I’ve done. This is Part 1 of 2.

Tall Tale Radio Podcast

Last week Tom Racine of Tall Tale Radio called me up to interview me. He is a big history buff, and we sort of geeked out a little. Okay, a lot. But it made for fresh conversation, and I think because of that, it’s a deeper look into The Dreamer than most of the interviews I’ve done. So if you’re a history geek, too–and I know that you are!–give it a listen.

It’s only an hour, which I think is the perfect length of time for a podcast–long enough to really get into a few topics, but not so long that it’s a major commitment. We talked about a range of things, from Nathan Hale’s last moments, to writing honestly about war, to understanding historical figures as real, flawed people. It was a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it!
