New Pages- 3 & 4!

New Pages 3 & 4 today!  I don’t think any two more different pages have ever been juxtaposed in The Dreamer.  Enjoy:

(Once you’re done laughing read on…)

So, I’ve been running a really hard race with The Dreamer since we started over a year ago.  Yesterday I uploaded issue #1 to IDW to be printed.  I feel… very accomplished right now and also utterly and completely spent.  So after talks with a friend and my father-in-law, I decided to take their advice and give myself two weeks vacation.  I know… that sucks for all of you.  But really, it’ll be a better Dreamer and a better Mike & Lora if I do this.

So no update next Friday.  I’ll be in Virginia Beach with my extended family for our annual family vacation.  (My grandfather and uncle put on funny hats and ride around in tiny cars in a parade.  Then my cousins and sisters and I play frisbee in the dark… and try not to kill each other.  Or is that try to kill each other…?  I’m never quite sure.)  After that The Dreamer will be back on track until mid-October when I’m taking a second week off to take my husband to New England for a few days for his 30th birthday and to *cough*visittheNathanHaleHouse*cough*  ;)

I’m sorry to disappoint!  You know I love you all, and love all your support!

And if you didn’t read yesterday’s blog post, go read it.  You can now pre-order your printed copy of The Dreamer Issue #1 at your local comic shop!  Order code:  SEPT084131E  If you don’t live near a comic shop, there were some great suggestions on how to get it in the comments section of yesterday’s blog.

VOTE this week to see the beautiful Issue #1 variant cover painted by Jenny Frison!  (To VOTE just click on the VOTE buttons featuring Al & Nate on the top right of the homepage.)  See you in two!

The Dreamer #1–Order Now!!

One of my friends just sent me an email that contained this picture and little more:

I guess the latest issue of Previews is out.  :)

If you’re not a comic book person, Previews is the catalogue that lists all the comics for sell that month.  It appears that the time to order your printed copy of The Dreamer from IDW Publishing is now!  If you’re not a comic shop regular, here’s what you do:  find a comic shop in your yellow pages, bring a friend wearing a Spiderman or Dark Knight tee shirt so you don’t have to go alone, and ask the guy who runs the store if they’ll order you a copy of the book.  It’s that easy.

The comic is listed under IDW Publishing, on page 291 of the Previews Catalogue.  And the order code that they use is:  SEPT084131E

It’s only $3.99 and there’s no annoying shipping fees like if you buy stuff off the net.  It really is only four dollars.  And you can choose from the sweet cover that Barb Jacobs and myself did (featured above) or you can pick the beautiful painted variant cover by Jenny Frison, or… feel free to buy both.  :)

WOWIO Change

I just wanted to let everyone know that I decided to pull The Dreamer from WOWIO.  They were recently bought out by Platinum Studios, and when that happened, their policies changed.  I was excited at first because they took WOWIO global.  But they also changed the free download policy, and Dakuwaka had to start charging for downloads.  Needless to say the number of downloads dropped dramatically when that happened.  There are other changes which made me uncomfortable.

I’ll have Mike pull the WOWIO links from our downloads section soon because they don’t work anymore.

Mike Penny and Dakuwaka were absolutely great to work with, and always totally sweet to me, and I’m sorry to have to stop working with them.

New Pages- 1 & 2 and…. WINNER(s) ANNOUNCED!

So… it’s new page Friday, let the chase begin!  Pages 1 & 2 and Issue #5 is off with a bang!

Nathan, stop postulating and rescue that damsel in distress!!

So… about that Fan ArtPallooza contest…!  Do you want to know who won…???  Well, on Tuesday, Jenn Murray (co-owner of Tote Yourself, who donated the limited quantity Patriotic Tote for the contest) called me up and said, “So, uh, how are you going to pick just one winner?”  I had no answer for her.  But she had an answer for me.  She said, “What if we donated two more totes?”  I was like, “Seriously?????”  And… she and Terry did!  So we’re going to have THREE WINNERS from THREE JUDGES!  I let Jenn pick a winner, since Tote Yourself is our sponsor.  I made Mike pick a winner since, even though he’s very stealth here online, he really is my wingman for The Dreamer.  And, of course, I picked a winner.

Jenn and Mike picked their winners right away.  But me?  I agonized all week.  Couldn’t sleep.  Begged my family and friends to help me decide.  Prayed.  And finally broke down and called Beth.  You all know Beth affectionately as “The Cake Girl.”  If you didn’t vote a few weeks ago, you might have missed her submission.  Beth is not only one of my best friends, but she’s also my old college roommate and my chief research assistant.  And, apparently, a cake connoisseur.  See for yourself.

Beth decided to take herself out of the contest so one of you could win the prize, but to her cake I give a hearty (and delicious) “Honorable Mention!”  Hip, Hip, Huzzah! to Beth’s Dreamer cake!!

Each winner will receive the limited Patriotic Tote, a copy of Issues #1 and 2, my limited edition 2008 sketchbook, a Dreamer pin and a sketch in your sketchbook of your favorite Dreamer character!  So… onto the winners! Continue Reading »
