Hey everyone, enjoy your update!  New Pages 13 & 14.

Issue #6 is now available for pre-order online, and at your local comic book shop!  Make sure you get your copy!  The order code is:  MAR094338

My brain is really foggy.  I’ve been working overtime.  In addition to my usual colorist, Alan Evans of Rival Angels fame is temporarily helping me with colors.  (Thanks, man!)  I’m on an insane rush to finish issue #6 in time to get it to the printers for IDW.  So advance warning that for the next few weeks it might me take awhile to reply to your email if you send me one.  I will get back to everyone eventually, though, I promise!

And VOTE this week to preview next week’s page!

#287

One of my friends came over the other night and said, “Hey, Lora, did you know The Dreamer jumped about 15 points on the Top 300 Comics List this month?”  I, uh, had to say no.  I… didn’t even realize The Dreamer had made it onto the top 300 Comic Book list.

But I guess we are.  We’re #287, according to January’s sales figures for Issue #3.  For being a teeny, tiny webcomic about history, I am stoked!!  (The Top 300 list is comprised of the top “300 Comics Sold to North American Comics Shops as Reported by Diamond Comic Distributors.”)

Thanks to all of you who bought the book (or two!), gave an extra copy to a friend, or talked your local comic book shop into carrying The Dreamer.  You guys are awesome!!

New Pages- 11 & 12!

Another Friday, another update– New pages 11 & 12!

(Frederick offers his wisdom…)

Not much Dreamer news over here this week.  Enjoy the update!  I love the way page 12 came out, it’s one of my favorite images in the series I think.  The most elite troops were the last to leave during the retreat, and so there’s not a doubt in my mind that Knowlton’s Rangers would’ve been among the last to leave.  (Though I haven’t been able to find any historical record to confirm that…)   But by the time that the sun rose, when all hope for the last troops should’ve been gone, the fog grew so thick that you were unable to see a man standing in front of you.  Every last soldier escaped, save a few who stayed to plunder the camps and really, those guys deserved it.  According to Nathan Hale’s college classmate Benjamin Tallmadge’s account, the very last person to leave was none other than General George Washington.  Tallmadge had gone back for his horse and watched Washington take the last boat to Manhattan.

And here’s my color assistant Motter’s take on his page this week:

Last but  not least, VOTE this week to see Jenny Frison’s variant cover for Issue #6–it’s her last cover for The Dreamer, since it’s the last issue of the mini-series IDW is printing.  It’s Jenny’s take on the mysterious foggy retreat.

Historical Breakthrough!!

Okay, I should’ve posted this earlier, and I know I dropped the ball on President’s Day, forgive me all.  I’ve had a lot going on.

But several of you sent this to me, and I saw it on the news, and… for some reason it just makes me crack up.  I dunno, it might be true but…  ha ha ha, decide for yourselves:  Was Martha Washington a hottie??

And… do… I… care….?  I haven’t made up my mind yet.  This… in no way impacts the great things she did or the esteem I hold her in.  Though, I guess, it might’ve impacted George’s view of her!  ;)

But honestly, are we… surprised that she wasn’t born old and ugly like Benjamin Button?  Maybe I’m just a forward thinking person, but I always assumed she was young and pretty at some point.  Anyways, it gave me chuckles:  Purple rhinestone shoes, oh my!

Enjoy!
