Tall Tale Radio Podcast
Last week Tom Racine of Tall Tale Radio called me up to interview me. He is a big history buff, and we sort of geeked out a little. Okay, a lot. But it made for fresh conversation, and I think because of that, it’s a deeper look into The Dreamer than most of the interviews I’ve done. So if you’re a history geek, too–and I know that you are!–give it a listen.
It’s only an hour, which I think is the perfect length of time for a podcast–long enough to really get into a few topics, but not so long that it’s a major commitment. We talked about a range of things, from Nathan Hale’s last moments, to writing honestly about war, to understanding historical figures as real, flawed people. It was a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it!

Oh, that was such a treat, Lora! I love your interviews, they’re excellent. You were amazing! And I can’t wait until your next update, it’s KILLING ME! It is so obvious that you’ve done so much research for this comic, it is very admirable! : )
May I also acknowledge the host? He was wonderful and seemed very passionate about history and very excited about The Dreamer!
Overall, I loved the interview! ^^ You ROCK Lora!!

Madi! Thanks for the compliment…but it’s very easy to get excited about history and talking to someone else who feels the same way. Especially such an amazing artist as Lora. As I said, the art brings you in, but the storytelling and the obvious research keeps you there. I hope you’ll visit my site and take a listen to some of the other great artists I’ve talked to.
Deb! Glad I could play a small part in helping your day get better!

Excellent podcast! I loved it! You touched on a lot of aspects of history that I find fascinating. By the way, thanks for not choosing the war of 1812 as a comic setting. Because Canada won. And people get mad every time I say that.
And that bit about people being disappointed when they find out historical people had flaws. I was talking about that with a roommate the other day, so I was awestruck when you brought that up. It’s really interesting, isn’t it?
Thank you! I needed a little history in my day today.

Hi! Excellent Interview! I wanted to say that I LOVE your comic! I found it a while ago, and started reading it because I love history. I actually re-enact the Rev. War, specifically the war in KY area during March 1777. The name of the group is Benjamin Logan’s Company. We portray a Kentucky militia. I love it! Thank you so much for writing the comic! Out of curiosity, have you ever been to the “Under the Redcoats” event in Williamsburg? I never have been, but I would LOVE to go someday… in dress. :) You are a very good writer too, by the way. Sometimes I feel as if I am reading a historical novel.

Hey, Megan, I’ve been too afraid to go to Williamsburg that weekend. XD I hear the redcoats are /everywhere/….! I want to go the Grand Illumination weekend one year, that’s my dream.
Glad you all enjoyed the interview! Tom was a gracious and intelligent host. We had fun, I think it showed.

I didn’t know about the whole Joseph Warren’s tooth thing, it was really cool to learn that.
