Baltimore Con was a blast! My friends Beth and Liz came all the way from Indiana and Florida to help me at the show, and let me say, without them it would’ve just been insane. IN. SANE. So… Thanks girls!!

If you want to see the rest of my pics, by all means read on…
Before the convention, I took commissions for drawings from my site at DeviantART. It sounded like a good idea at the time, but I pretty much looked like this all weekend:

(Pencil behind my ear, bristol board on my lap and an expression that says,
“Am I laughing or am I crying…? Laughing? Good.”)
Here’s one such commission with the happy recipients, Steve and Kevin from Wizard Magazine:

(Steve asked me to draw Oracle playing chess with Katara.
The result is hilarious, apparently Katara is a sore loser.) ;)
Cons are good for seeing old friends like Brian Maize and Goatboy…

And making new ones, like Scott Sava…

And Jenny Frison, who has been painting the (beautiful) variant covers for The Dreamer…

(Aww, look, that’s Bea on her sign!!!)
We even got to meet a lot of you. Apparently even Poison Ivy loves The Dreamer!

Saturday night, Kevin and Steve Sunu and friends were kind enough to take us to a crazy little dive called The Paper Moon Cafe. There were action figures, baby dolls, and mannequins everywhere.

(I’m not exactly sure what we were trying to do in this photo but… there were a lot o’ boobs…)
So… we took another, more kid friendly pic. Pez!

Even though neither of them had ever been to a comic convention before, the “Dreamer Girls” Beth & Liz seemed to have a good time:

Beth launched the trailer she made for The Dreamer! (and… if you haven’t seen it yet, go back to yesterday’s blog! It’s phenomenal!)

And Liz couldn’t resists cutesy 3-PO’s charms:

(If Liz looks familiar, she should. She was my inspiration for Bea.
Oh, and that’s me in the background doing guess what? Commissions! O___o )
Baltimore is a crazy cool town, and I haven’t been there in awhile so it was awesome to go back…

But… the weekend left us feeling pretty much like this:

It was awesome meeting all of you!! Well, that’s it for Convention Season ’08 for me! Till next year…

Seeing as I’m from Baltimore, I notice you went to Papermoon! It’s a really sweet restaurant that me and my classmates used to go to (before we trucked off to college this year). The floating naked people definitely scared me as a child, but its such a cool place. And the food aint too bad either! :D
Come back to baltimore when I’m actually there!
Hey, it looks like a sweet time! What’s with the boat at the end though? Did you reenact Bea’s rescue? XD I’m definitely checking out the Paper Moon Cafe, if nothing else cause it has a cool name. High marks for Dreamer Girls in comic shirts.
Good to hear that Baltimore treated you well. It was great meeting you on Saturday! I doubt that you remember me, but thanks again for the signature (and listening to me babble). Beth and Liz were super-nice!
*sigh* I want to goooo!!! lol
Oh, wow! Things look really awesome~~~ You had so many commissions to finish, Lora. ^^; It’s nice to know you still had fun! I mean, you can’t NOT have fun at a con. <3 Steve looks like a really great guy, and Liz and Beth are AWESOME (Dreamer cake = <3). I can TOTALLY see Bea in Liz, actually. I wish I could have gone. D:
Had such a wonderful time meeting you.
Thanks for the comics!
:)
Scott
PS. Paddington says hi.
Glad that you enjoyed Baltimore, it’s pretty sweet. I’ve been to the convention before, back in 2001. Unfortunately, I haven’t been back. I spent the weekend in Chicago. I went to the Freedom Museum, which celebrates the 1st Ammendment and all of the people who have fought (and in some cases died) for our freedoms we now enjoy. I think you (or anyone else into history and/or learning) would enjoy it. Can’t wait for Friday!
Liz does look familiar, but not just because of Bea. She reminds me of about 3 people I’ve met in my life. lol Or maybe they remind me of her….*gasp*
You should come to a con in MI. >o>
I now have a colonial outfit that I could wear around! ^__^ Sadly, it’s bought off the internet, but… I have no skills to make my own outfit, no time thanks to Dougherty (my APUSH teacher) & Halloween is fast approaching. 0:
seems like fun. though yes, you do look extremely busy haha.
it’s been so long since I’ve seen those ships! :-O I miss them.
blahhh. i wanted to gooooo.
i live literally 3 miles away from baltimore on route 95 xD
