New Page 17!

New Page 17!

I wanted to post here about a neat charity spearheaded by TGT Webcomics that I took part in: “Webcomics: What’s Cooking?” From the website, “What started out as a simple idea of doing a cookbook based around webcomic characters has blossomed into a full fledged campaign to help raise money for the hungry in North America. “Webcomics: What’s Cooking?” is that cookbook that will feature dozens and dozens of recipes from popular webcomic creators showcasing a variety of recipes from Breakfast to Dinner and a few things in between!”

I submitted a page where Nathan Hale & Alan Warren share with you my long-coveted egg nog recipe! You can pre-order the book here for only $15! All proceeds go toward food pantries, feeding the hungry in North America.

Don’t forget to VOTE this week to check out next Friday’s update!

Got my cookbook and super excited!! Great page and can’t wait for next week. Have a good weekend everyone!

  2. Darwin says:

I was a little thrown by the change in scenery…took me reading it two times to get what was going on. Maybe it’s my cold…BLEH.

She looks so forlorn in this page. She’s got to be so torn, what with her struggle to decide which is more “real” to her, Ben or Alan, and her friends thinking she needs psychiatric help…

  3. Caera says:

Hmmmm cookbook with Nathan-ness, any diced carrots this time? XD

I’ll probably get the book just for kicks even though I don’t like egg nog. lol

  4. Rae says:

    awww Bea looks all depressed!

  5. Is that her dad? And I want a cool gazebo!

  6. Cody Elizabeth says:

Going to have to buy that book!

And great update. Poor Bea. Must have been a tough day for her! And probably followed by an even tougher night.

  7. Cody Elizabeth says:

(And can I mention that time is just flying by?! I can’t believe this is already page 17 of this issue!)

  8. Amber says:

Yay! We get some father -daughter heart-to-heart!! I cannot wait to see what they will say!

  9. Hannah says:

Poor Beatrice, she looks like she needs a hug :( I love the line about John and his video games, though! It’s so true, especially with zombie games. You play them too long, and pretty soon your brain explodes just like the zombies on the screen.

    I WANT THAT COOKBOOK! *coughisnathaninanaproncough*
And the emotion in this page, I love it. It’s really strong and I like how it’s Bea’s Dad that’s kinda coming to her emotional rescue. Usually Moms are the ones doing it so it’s definitely a fresh look on the parental thing. :)

  11. Lora says:

@lavieja321: Thanks for supporting a good cause!!

@Darwin: Sorry. :( I think I’m going to go back and make the bleed on this page (and the next few) black. It’ll feel more like night and “time has passed” hopefully!

    @Caera: but my egg nog is the best! ^^;

@Ginny @Amber: Yup! We haven’t seen much of Bea’s Dad… so I thought it was time to show a little of his & Bea’s dynamic. In issue #1 she runs home from John’s house hoping her dad is home. That’s hardly the way she reacts to her mom. We also saw him tuck her in at the beginning of Issue #7, but they haven’t had any significant exchanges.

@Cody: Me either! I’m penciling page 20 right now, and I can’t believe it. Time to get cracking on the Issue #12 script.

@Deb: Bea isn’t her mom’s biggest fan. For whatever reason, there seems to be a lot of tension there. I hope you guys enjoy the next few pages, when I wrote this little scene I thought it brought a lot of balance to what Bea’s been going through.

Clearly she needs to grab a controller and join in on the zombie slaughter next time, so she’s not sleeping on patios.

Also, who doesn’t want to shoot zombies? Other than nazis, there is no more satisfying thing to shoot. :P

  13. Angela says:

She’s having a tough time if she’s sleeping in a gazebo – must be cold!
Also – noticed the “blog” link on the bottom page may be broken – it goes to a site error Blue Host page instead of your blog page. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Looking forward to seeing how Bea deals with her latest dilemma!

  14. Lora says:

@Angela: I didn’t even know that was there. I’ll pass that onto Mike the webmaster! Thanks for the heads up. Until then, feel free to use the “Blog” tab at the top of the site!

  15. Half Moon says:

Wow, Bea looks so sad….I think Alan needs to get his butt to the twenty-first century already.
As for the eggnog recipie….there’s HOW much rum in it???

  16. Lora says:

    @Half Moon: a couple cups I think…
