New Page 18!

New Page 18! I really enjoyed writing this scene, and I hope that you enjoy reading it just as much. We haven’t seen much of Bea’s father, and I think this interaction with Bea will bring a little balance to what Bea’s been going through in her modern life…

I regret to say that I will not be attending the C2E2 convention in Chicago next month after all. If you were hoping to see me there, I’m sorry! I’m hoping to return in 2012.

VOTE this week to preview next Friday, and I’ll see you back here then!

  3. Emily says:

    Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

  4. Gina says:

Wow, every frame of Bea is just gorgeous. Really loving the artistry of this page in particular. The dialogue is awesome, but I just really like how the lineart turned out here.

  5. Cody Elizabeth says:

Aw, that was adorable! I love Bea’s dad. Such a good moment between them. They seem to share a really close bond and understand each other very well.

  6. Hannah says:

That’s such an adorable page! (Not to mention a very beautifully drawn one!) I love the connection between Bea and her dad, and his answer was so sweet :) Can’t wait till next week!

  7. Rae says:

aww Bea’s dad had such a great answer. I am sure my Dad could never come up with a response that great if I just asked him that question out of the blue. Next week’s preview looks good and I was excited to see we got a little dialogue preview too :)

  8. Rebecca says:

ya Bea seems like a Daddys girl ( i was/am to my dad)

and ohhh her Dad is handsome woof (is that what your husband looks like)

    and he seems sweet

  9. Tina says:

    T.T; Very pretty page.

  10. Diana says:

Soooo goood! Best page in a while-not that the others have been lackluster, they’ve been good, but this one is very genuine in its content. It feels very real. And it is good to see Bea’s dad in conversation-I was starting to wonder what he was like!

  11. AngelVixen says:

REALLY good answer, Mr. Whaley. Made my day!

  12. Erin says:

Aww, I really like this scene :) I also forgot to comment last week, but I’ve been looking forward to getting to know Bea’s dad as a character; he seemed and still seems cool :D

  13. trevor says:

Boo, we’ll miss you at C2E2. You know you always have a place to stay with me in Chicago.

Good conversation on the latest page. Another fantastic page!

  14. Lora says:

@Gina: Thank you! I love this page, I’m so proud of my drawings and Julie knocked it out of the park with colors.

@Rebecca: Bea def. is a Daddy’s girl! For whatever reason, she seems to resent her mom. Lol, that’s not at all what my husband looks like. But you can find pics of him in old blog posts from Conventions we attended!

    @Diana: Thank you!

    @Trevor: I’m sad I won’t be there too!

  15. Paula says:

Your comic seems to sometimes suggest all the best men are from generations past – Alan, Nathan, Freddy… Bea’s Dad.

Though Ben might tip that balance…haha.

Great work as always, Miss Lora! :D

  16. Annamarie says:

This is so sweet, because I’m pretty much a daddy’s girl, too, so this page hits home. :3 And I agree with everyone else, I LOVE the art on this page! ^^

  17. Laura says:

Not to ruin the sentimental mood, but I still think Bea’s dad is a hunk. Just sayin’.

  18. Emily says:

OT but, do you know anyone who could make a nice layout for the forum? I think the forum needs some spicing up.

  19. Laura says:

Good page. A very sweet moment between Bea and her Dad.

I’m bummed you aren’t going. I was seriously considering going, and it would’ve turned into a definitely if you were going. I miss you lots.
Plus I think I heard Eliza Dushku and Tahmoh Penikett are going to be there. I would’ve been having a geek heart attack all over the place. :)

  20. Hey! I’ve managed to keep up with your work since changing accounts, but I’m glad to have stuck around!

Your art and coloring has really improved, especially with the subtle expressions. I get more excited with each page! :D

  21. Ashley says:

I really liked this page. I always wondered if the dad would show up and what he looked like. In the dream, do her parents look the same way as well?

  22. Darwin says:

Hey I just wanted you to know I was reading a book to my class the other day and Nathan Hale was mentioned in the story! I would never have known who he was had it not been for your comic!

Just wanted to share my text to text connnection!
