New Page #18

New Page #18. Alan and Bea make it out in the nick of time… for now.

Wow, so many of you voted on which wallpaper to unlock! Over a hundred comments. I think the only times that ever happened is when Bea kissed Ben and Alan punched Nathan. In the end, it was the “Spring iPod Love” wallpaper that won, so I hope you all enjoy it! Download here:  [1024 x 678] [1600 x 1200] [1920 x 1200] Thanks again for voting The Dreamer into the TGT Tournament finals! I’ll leave the wallpapers up for a week.

I forgot to mention something last Friday. Long-time reader Emily set up a forum for The Dreamer. Go have fun with it, chat up a storm, and meet fellow Dreamers! I created a username on there (I’m comic-chic, just like on DeviantART) and I put a first post up in the Welcome folder. Create a log in and drop a comment so we know you’re there. Let’s get this thing started!

And just to repeat, since I didn’t put this in a Friday post yet, I’ll be a guest again at Mid Ohio Con, in Columbus, Ohio, November 6-7th. We had a blast last year, and I hope some of you can make it out this year. And don’t forget that you can see me in Cincinnati in a two weeks at the Cincinnati Comic Expo, one day only, Saturday, September 18th.

VOTE this week to preview next week’s pages!

Yay! I love the running panel. And thanks for promoting the fan forum!

  2. Allison says:

Oh, I’m so happy now. This was just what I needed: a new wallpaper and a cute update.

  3. Cody Elizabeth says:

I agree with Allison! The page made me smile! :)

  4. Erin says:

Alan and Bea made me smile with their cuteness :D But Nathan and Hammy are worrying me with the events to come D:

  5. lavieja321 says:

Super Awesome!! Great start to the weekend!

  6. ariane says:

    Thanks for the wallpaper, Lora!

  7. Darwin says:

OMG! That was the cutest! I love how the near miss had them laughing. It took the sting out of the following comment about her still being mad at him too…

And oh boy, I think there’s going to be a fight over who gets to escort the lovely lady!

  8. Rose says:

The running panel is wonderful! And I love the Bea-Alan cuteness! :D

(Also, LOL at the preview. I love their facial expressions!)

  9. deb says:

“I’m still mad at you!” Hehehee. Unfortunately for Alan, Bea’s not gonna let Milly get away with it very easily. Nice. Love how you had them run through the kitchen. Makes it all the more comical. ;)

  10. Amber says:

Huzzah! I agree with everyone else, the running panel is great! It is so cute and funny! It looks like Hamilton and Nathan might be the one fighting now.. lol. uh oh…

  11. Lora says:

Glad you all enjoyed the “Great Escape” panel. I had fun drawing it. :) Running out the front door and smack into the entire British Army wouldn’t have been good.

And poor Milly Weaver. Whatever she did (or didn’t do!) Bea isn’t going to forget easily!

  12. Swinsea says:

I have the original pencils of that wallpaper up above my desk where I work. : )

  13. Mari says:

“And poor Milly Weaver. Whatever she did (or didn’t do!) Bea isn’t going to forget easily!”

Won’t Bea need to remember first? ;-)

    As always, great update!

  14. Lora says:

@Mari: good point, but if you try telling her that, you’re likely to get whacked with a fan!

  15. Eibhlaan says:

Wow, a long time since I’ve commented… I feel bad about that. But I love these pages, they are so funny :) can’t wait for next weeks update!

  16. Kaite says:

I Love,Love the running panel too! And now I have ‘chase scene’ music in my head, but it’s totally worth it!

  17. Albone says:

So much to love about this page. The third panel is great, because they’re sharing a laugh and they haven’t done that in ages. The last panel is beautifully done. But I’m projecting a lot of symbolism in the 4th panel. The running together uphill, away from trouble, with the leaves blowing and the sun high. We know they can run from trouble but it always seems to find them.

  18. Silvre says:

GREAT expressions in the laughing panel. I love it!

  19. Rae says:

I know everyone has already said it, but I must say it agian I loved the top panel with Alan and Bea running with servants just doing laundry etc. in the background. It made me smile. As always I can’t wait for next week!

Well now I think I am off to save the new Dreamer wallpaper to my computer so I can use it as desktop background for awhile :) Hopefully staring at it can tide me over until the next Dreamer update.

  20. Hiraku536 says:

Lol, ahh… I guess good acting does come from at least some form of true emotion after all. Bea is after a sensitive person.

  21. allison says:

i love your story!! it’s so creative!! and your drawings are awesome!!

  22. Diana says:

The escape panel is wonderful- I would love to see that scene in the Dreamer movie! The kitchen also serves to remind us that a lot of people in America weren’t white and weren’t working for wages. I’ve always admired the fact that this comic doesn’t shy away from depicting slavery, even in subtle ways.

And of course Alex/Hammy manages to snag a very presentable horse…

  23. trevor says:

Love the top panel of them dashing through the house. Hilarious and cute!

  24. Laura says:

Lora, whenever I click on the wallpapers, it says the links are broken… :(

  25. Persistence of Vision says:

Awww, the links for the downloadable poster no longer work :*(

  26. Lora says:

Sorry! They were only up for a week.
