New Page #25! And that’s a wrap for Issue #11, which is a wrap for the second graphic novel. I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride from Bea’s second kiss until now. Nathan’s come a long way. When we left him at the end of Volume 1 he had a cracked lip and a bruised ego. But today he’s ready to take a stand…

Come back on Wednesday for the beginning of the mini-comic side story about Nathan Hale & Alan Warren meeting for the first time. The entire 12 page story will update twice a week, so I hope you’re ready for more Dreamer!
And don’t forget to VOTE today! You’ll be sorry if you missed it. I’ve been doing some toony sketches of The Dreamer characters and this little interaction is one of my favs…

Nathan! Don’t go!!
*tears*
This is so painful. So beautiful and it hurts so bad. I legitimately CRIED. Thanks a lot, Lora. :’(
I’m looking forward to seeing the new comic but I’m still upset about what’s going to happen. *wails*
Nathan Hale is the man. I thought so when I was seven, and time has only served to strengthen that opinion.
Nathan…I didn’t think it was possible for me to love you more than I do, yet every single day…^.^ <3 <3 <3 You did a lovely job on this, Lora. I want a poster of that last page! lol
And those doodles–kawaii-lol all the way!
Beautiful! In a sad, touching way. And I love the cartoon!
Beautifully done.
SIGH.
Well, I should comment on how amazingly powerful this panel is… but I think the other commentators have that covered. : ) It suffices to say that I agree, wholeheartedly.
On a different note, I am very glad that I voted this week – the sketch was marvellous! I’m still chuckling now.
*applause*
I’m the opposite og Ginny — Isay it’s beautiful in a sad way. Nathan, you leava us too soon, both in the comic and in life.
… Nathan. Nathan…
oooh, I am a fan of the TWC incentive. More Hamilton!
…Stupid, stinking, desire to be useful…We’d love you even if you were a BUM Nathan!!!!!!
Nooo, don’t do it, Nathan!! DX
Nathan is AWESOME.
Why can’t they make a good movie about him? Cinemas would overflow with tears. Just find a really talented, beautiful young actor for him. Also, hero dying heroically for America in gorgeous period movie = a dozen Oscars.
@Alcanis: At the Symposium, after M. William Phelps divulged some of the changes the scriptwriters made to the biography when they were thinking about making a movie, you’d be as adamant as I am about NEVER letting that movie be made. :P
They should let US write the script. And on that subject Lora, if ANYONE EVER approaches you about making a Dreamer movie, for heaven’s sake, BE STUBBORN. Don’t just sign it all over or they’ll do something terrible.
Gods, I don’t know what I’d do if anyone wanted to make a movie out of my stuff. I’d probably hide under my bed, with my escrima sticks. lol
OMG, Ohj my gosh! I am so emotional sthat I cagnnot type righ, which is abnormal or me! What drama! I want a poster! I give you Lora, a round of applause for this special, emotionally charged pdate… Hip, hip, Huzzah! Hip, Hip, Huzzah! Hip, Hip, Huzzah! : )
Nathan goes into such a noble stance *CHEERS FROM THE CROWD*
now why isnt he on one of our money bills?
Love that vote incentive sketch!
what a great speech from Nathan. He sounds so selfless. I am sad this issue is over, but I am really looking forward to the mini-story next week :)
@Caera: What were the changes they wanted to make??? I have the Phelps biography–bought it as soon as it came out. I was so excited I could read a biography of Nathan that was not 90 years old and not written for 8 year olds! I would LOVE a Nathan movie (especially with a young sexy actor in the title role), but I wouldn’t want it to be inaccurate! Then again, when are these things every accurate?
Oh, and I second what everyone said about the page. Beautiful, heartbreaking, I love Nathan’s stance and how everyone is looking up at him. And if Alexander Hamilton were kissing my hand, I would not have that look on my face! I would be much more…uh…excited and willing. ;)
@Rebecca, he may not be on any money but he was on stamps. I sent Lora a sheet I won off ebay. :D
@Alicia I’m not sure if I’m allowed to talk about the details of the script legally, but there’s no legal binds to me saying the script was really messed up. :P
You should email Phelps and ask him. lol He’s nice-he signed my book for me and he answered all my nutty emails. :D
@Caera: Whoa. I think I missed something. WHAT MOVIE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
No movie. G-d willing. lol Not THAT movie anyways.
Dun dun DUN!
It’s time to prove to your friends you’re worth a damn. Sometimes that means going into a ladies underwear store and waiting while she tries things on. Sometimes that means being a spy for General Washington. Ultimately, you’re in deep no matter what you do. :P
Oohhhh… I read these last two pages together and I literally got teary eyed… Beautifully done <3
NATHAN! *wails* *hugs him fiercely*
As much as I might wish that the inevitable will never come, this page didn’t make me nearly as nervous the last one. The combination of how he stands and what he says in it that made me realize how much this mission fits with his character and how he wouldn’t really want things to go any other way. I guess that’s why we love him.
And if there isn’t a good Nathan Hale movie by some as-yet-undetermined date, I’ll probably start to seriously consider writing the screenplay myself.
By the way, how many issues will there be in Act One?
Ahh, can’t wait for more! And yet, poor Nathan :-(
aw, this makes me kind of sad.
Until Wednsday, I was sure you were going to reveal at some point that this was another Nathan Hale (as you had done with Warren). All shadow of that idea is gone now.
This will be… painful
My reaction was something along the lines of: arghdfsdfoijfoasdjasdsafras.
Oh noble men and their need to be heroic and my attraction to heroes. Alas.
(love the vote incentive!)
You know, something I just realized…Nathan has never been on a cover for the Dreamer…
Well then, we’ll just have to fix that, won’t we? I VOTE NATHAN ON THE NEXT COVER! lol
Valid point, Half Moon!
I second Caera’s notion!
And I’m still getting the chills from this page.
Wouldn’t the burns on Nathan’s face make him easily identifiable on both sides? Shouldn’t that be a reason NOT to let him be spy!?! He could be caught WAY to easily!
It didn’t stop him though. :P
Because of The Dreamer, I have now been deemed a history nerd at school (not that I’m complaining) Because of The Dreamer I want to be a history teacher, other then a math teacher (thank the lord for that change) Because of Nathan Hale I’ve have awed (or board) at least two people by telling them of his bravery and stating his famous quote. ( that was about the time people stared saying I was a history nerd XD) I will miss him very much and will bawl my eyes out when he passes on.
@Deb: So sorry to make you cry! :( But Nathan is making everyone proud, I think…!
@Sarah: You’ll get your wish! :)
@Caera: Sorry. I’d jump on a chance to see a Dreamer movie made. That they’d change it is a given. But I’d still love to see my characters on the big screen… My biggest fear has always been not that they’d screw up Nathan, but that they’d make Ben white, lol. That would not stand.
@trevor: LOL!!!!!!!!!
@Etoille: Probably 16… but issue #14 is a special, double sized issue!
@Frank: Ah… sorry to disappoint! This is /the/ Nathan Hale… much to all of our dismay.
@Half Moon: Actually… I just finished painting him. He’s on the cover of the new graphic novel coming out! :)
@Amy: It would, and it did. His friend/waiter Asher Wright said that his scars would make him recognizable to anyone who had ever met him.
@Emma: Stand strong! High school doesn’t last forever… gaining an interest in history will! :)
@ Lora: YAY!!!! And why is #14 a double sized issue????
I’m just concerned they’ll “Twilight” everything!
I’m dreading what comes next for Nathan. :(
I kind of wish I didn’t know what happens next to our dear Nathan. Why did I pay attention in class? Oh why?
