D’awwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alan and Josey(???????) are adorible in a sad way!!!
And I’m now reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllll llllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy HHHHYYYYYYYPPPPPPEEEEEEERRRRRRRR for Anime Boston!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Just please, can we not meet up on Easter?????????????)
Oh, and the Fanart I wish I had thought to to make for the Palooza…. http://www.dolldivine.com/Tudors-Scene-Maker/HalfMoon-532475 …I’ve had too much free time since I got sick -.-”
I meant for it to be Betsy, but it doesn’t much matter. She’s a few years older than Jose, so she’s bigger than he would be in 1775.
p.s. so cute!
Those “dolls” look really neat! Although, speaking from personal experience, trying to recreate an 18th century look from that game…can be a serious pain in the neck. :P
Heh, thanks…Using the Tudors was actually the easiest I’ve ever tried on the site! Now if only they had a “Tuxedo Mask” setting for the Sailor game….^~^
I’m glad you don’t have them in tights with those frilly “bubble” things around their hips, like in that portait of Sir Francis Drake. But then that was probably mostly worn by “upper-class” types.
Yeaaah….that, and Nathan would have come back to haunt me(and not in a good way)if I had put him in those
In that case, Nathan would’ve definitely gone all “Poltergeist” if you had showed him wearing one of those fancy doublets with the ruffled collars! While we’re on the subject of Tudor clothing, do you happen to know what those “hip-bubbles” I mentioned are called?
Hose?? I have no clue…. Maybe Half Moon knows.
Not off the top of my head….though if I look I’ll probably find it easily….I want to say that they’re a hose of some sort but I know there’s another word in front.
Awwwwww……Alan and Joe 3/Jose? Honestly my first thought was that he was holding Beatrice, but then i thought “why would she be there?” and this makes more sense anyway. Plus, dawwwww.
I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally wanna go to Anime Boston now, but the problem is…..well, 2.5 hours from connecticut times 2, plus admission, plus fun money, plus bills and rent, equals me really hoping something changes and works out.
Is that Jack in the VI? He looks piiiiiiiissed…..
INCENTIVE CAPTION!!!!
Jack: “I wanted white meat, goddamnit!
…..or…..
Jack: “You! Get me some bandages and a captured lobsterback!”
Nervous Soldier: “A….sir, why?”
Jack: “In case they start firing! You think I want those muskets hitting me?”
*rofl* LOVE the second V-I!
Two and a half hours is nothing! I’ll be driving 13.
…We REALLY need to do a spoof volume with these captions
The storytelling going on here is just wonderful, Lora!
Thank you!
Poor Joe! His tears… I would hate overhearing a conversation about hearing my Dad being arrested and dying.. It just makes me wonder how he reacted when he heard his father died on Bunker Hill.
Comfort him Alan! He needs a hug!
Beautiful update as usual Lora! I can almost hear them talking as if they were in the room with me.
I have a story about Dr. Warren’s death at Bunker Hill nearly finished. All four kids are featured in it. Look for it soon!
Huzzah! I will look forward to it! I can’t wait to see more of the Warren clan. Is Mercy, Joseph’s fiancee, featured in this story?
I will need a pile of kleenexes by me when I read the story.
No. There are a lot of new characters here as is. Mercy will have to take her place in the hallowed halls of fan fiction. I leave that up to you all!
So who took responsibility for the kids after Bunker Hill?
Dr. Warren’s alleged (but probable) fiancée, Mercy Scollay for awhile. But they bounced around a lot. Mercy wasn’t able to keep them and was upset about it. After John Warren left the military came home and got married, he took some of them in. All of the details of their locations through the years are not all recorded.
…perhaps because they were staying with their cousin Alan…? ;)
I know that Jose was living with his Uncle Ebenezer when he died at 21.
Just read Sam Forman’s Warren biography! It’s all in there, the whole sordid story. At least as much of it as there is to know. It even involves Benedict Arnold…
Speaking of sordid, Lora, what did you think of Appendix III?
I haven’t finished it yet. I have so much research to do for this new Civil War gig that all American Rev. stuff got put on hold. :(
You could save it for Halloween. If you think the Spunkers were spooky, wait’ll you see what J.C. Warren’s home was like!
Wow.
That is all.
Thanks. :)
I second that. ^
Gorgeous panel with Alan and Jose. :’(
How’d their mother die, by the way?
We know when she died, there’s mention of it in the paper, but not why.
Oh wow…Lora, you just know how to pull on the heartstrings, don’t you? I’m feeling such a swirl of different emotions now: part of me wants to back Mary Warren in this (because she’s got every right and reason to be worried), part of me is feeling mighty proud of Joseph Warren for not giving up his cause (because I know he earnestly believes he’s doing the right thing)…and part of me is heartbroken knowing how this is going to end (you can’t change history).
Yeah, life is seldom black or white. Not usually only one right way to look at something.
Joseph is getting a verbal stomping equal to that of a British physical one. And, she’s right about where this is going. Personalities like theirs is bound to leave an impact on Alan.
My train of thought when I was reading this week’s page.
“Oh boy, this isn’t good”
“Wait. HER MOM’S DEAD?!”
“No-oooooo! I liked her. She died too soon!! :’(”
“…And yet for some reason I had it coming that she’d be dying very young”
“Hm… that should be Alan, right? Yeah… but he looks… so… different…”
*checks comments*
“It’s him alright. Is it the hair? It must be the hair. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it parted sideways before”
“Tears. So many tears. I wanna hug her too. :(”
And then I went back to staring at Alan’s troubled face.
Betsy & Alan are super friends. I think she’s his favorite. Shhh, don’t tell.
I had a scene in this issue that took place at Elizabeth Warren’s funeral but had to cut it. There weren’t enough pages for every scene. So I had to limit it to a quick mention here.
The good news is I adapted said scene into prose and you’ll be able to read it in an upcoming Bunker Hill story that is nearly finished! It’s actually, perhaps, my favorite piece of the Dreamer-verse I’d ever written. So I’m glad I found a place to use it even if it isn’t in the main story.
This page is so heartbreaking! I always wondered about the more “human” consequences of Joseph’s actions. He did great things in getting our young country started, but… but… but… People like his brother John and Abigail Adams express a lot of sadness and regret in their writings when they lost him, but I’ve also gotten hints of anger and frustration – and not just towards the British.
Well, if Joseph was “perfect”, I wouldn’t be so interested in him!
That’s a rather normal reaction, I find, when you lose a loved one.
Ok ok I give up. I *am* sick. That’s the only explanation why I could have forgotten about a Dreamer update. For the first time since I started reading it in November 2007 I forgot about an update.
And what a page! Awww!!!
I was actually kind of worried about you..! Feel better..!
I think I have a touch of flu. I had my flu shot and I’ve been doing everything I should to help myself, but after that stomach virus knocked me flat I was vulnerable to the nasties flying around the office. It’s a rattling cough, a weakness in the limbs and a lot of overall pain, though I feel fully functional and not the slightest bit tired, so obviously it’s not the FULL flu. That helps.
Basically you feel like Shoving Hale Into TARDIS. Believe me, I’ve been there! Well, except for the part about the stomach virus.
I hope you NEVER go there, in regards to the stomach virus. That’s happened to me more than once and it’s worse than Showing Hale Into TARDIS.
Well, I certainly hope you AND New Moon are both feeling better soon, and in my case even if I didn’t actually “go there” let’s just say it sure FELT like I did and just leave it at that. I don’t know how we could invent an expletive-code that’s stronger than “Shove Hale Into TARDIS” that doesn’t sound fairly obscene, so maybe we’d shouldn’t even try!
We already have Fate Undoes Colonel Knowlton…
First off, Thank you David, I feel alot better.
Second, I’m laughing like Hammy Even Lets Loose right now because I thought I was the only one still using those!
Third….I’m not a Twilight book……… :)
LOL! “New Moon”? Aw, Cato Really Acts Polite! Well, what can I say? It was late and I was getting kind’a punchy by then! Actually, “Half Moon” would be a good title in another of those book series that deals with brooding teen-vampire-heartthrobs, don’t you think?
@Caera: Oh, yeah. I totally forgot about that one! Well, we’re all responsible adults here. At least I HOPE we are!
I’m not sure we can call me a responsible adult. I look and act like one in the real world but I have the imagination and the fashion sense of a child…and I like it that way.
@ David: It’s my characters nickname in one of the vampire books I write…so it’s already taken. :D
@ Caera: “Oh…Finally, a lie too big! Had to happen at some point.”
@Caera: That’s what I figured. Oh, well, join the club!
@Half Moon: Ahah! Somehow I’m not really all that surprised! So, do you have any preference as to who might play that character if the book were made into a movie or tv series? It could happen!
Ummmm……..I really don’t know on the girls…I think for Ruby(Half Moon) I’d really like Ashley Greene to play the role. And Ethan Peck to play Jackson Halloway(the vampire) *~*
Those are fine actors, but I’d like to know more about the characters before I’d agree that those are good choices to play them. Please let me know the title of the book and the name you go by as the author so I can look it up.
I’m crying like Betsy right now, and I have no Alan to hold me. :( But I’m crying because I worked all day Valentine’s day and came home a zombie that fell right into a dreamless sleep AND I DIDN’T GET TO VOTE IN TIME FOR THE VALENTINE WALLPAPER!! WAAAAAHHH!! *bawls*
I just finished reading the whole thing WOW this is beautiful! I swear i dont cry easily at all but this…lets just say I am still using tissues. Keep up the amazing work!
In that case, welcome to
Crazy Townthe asylumthe jungleThe Dreamerverse! Enjoy your stay, and watch out for falling TARDISes. :DThank you, Caroline! And welcome aboard!
I know there wont be another page until Wednesday and yet I keep distracting myself form an overdue essay in the vein hope there is a new blog or I missed something! I’ve already read all the short stories so I need to learn patience! Lots of admiration to Lora!
Not sure if you are just a lover of comics or a maker of comics too. But I just posted a new blog post on my other website about character development! Great read for writers. Maybe that will distract you for a bit…! http://www.paperwingspodcast.com
Thanks for the link, I’ve always been interested in writing, but its getting the time to put it into action. I love the analogy of when and how to do major events, really well explained. Thanks again.
