oh wow these pages are breathtaking!!!
and that whole exchange of looks between Alan and Nathan makes me so SAD!!!
I also want to say it almost seems at this point that Bea is more at home in 1776 then in modern day. There shes all trying to deal with her emotions but here she seems more relaxed even though things are getting tense. I have no idea if that makes sence but thats what I get from it. haha :D
“But sadly, so little time.” *Shivers* Does anyone else feel a sense of foreboding? Lora, you have outdone yourself with this one! The colors, the lines and the dialogue! I ..I can’t get over Nathan and Alan’s face..
@Brent: There are more than a few inside jokes on these couple pages. Do any of the resident Nathan-experts want to explain?
And poor Knowlton. He just hasn’t been the same since folks found out about his secret collection…
@Hillary: Astute observation.
@Amber: I have to give a shout out to my Paper Wings Apprentice Meg Syverud (aka “Cheeko”) who does One Question. http://onequestioncomic.com/ She did the layouts for these first six pages, and totally brought this scene to life! I should post her layouts as the voting incentives some time so you guys can see them. They’re so full of energy!
I loved this update things are so light and airy with Nathan, he’s enjoying seeing an old friend, but it’s so tormenting cause we as readers know there’s trouble on the horizon! (Well I guess he sort of does too, there is a war going on). Also, I like the voting incentive looks like Bea and Freddy get a scolding, perhaps, or at least busted for eavesdropping :)
You’ve out done yourself Lora! Nathan and Ben look completely wonderful in this whole page! And the unspoken exchange between Alan and Nathan…only true BFFLs can do that! This update is awesome!
Oh, and it looks like Freddy went through a growth spurt in the incentive…?
Oh geez….that look on Alan’s face actually made me catch my breath, it was that intense. O_O Even if we didn’t know what was going to happen, that exchange of looks would hit right in the gut.
@Rae: Nathan certainly feels the weight of what is ahead. Look at his shoulder slump in panel 1 of page 2! But seeing an old friend has brought a (temporary) lift to his spirit.
@Grace: The translation was up as the voting incentive on Wed! :( The gist of it is that Tallmadge is citing Yale rules that Nathan is breaking and handing out demerits for them! The gag is that he increases the demerits because Nathan is in the wrong fraternity.
Gee, not only does it look like Freddie’s had a growth spurt, from the placement of his hand on Bea’s shoulder, Alan better watch out ;)
and speaking of Alan, that boy looks _ill_. Being stressed out about Bea and Nathan isn’t going to help him get better either.
I didn’t realize Alan and Col. Knowlton were of a height. Knowlton always seems so much larger than life that I just assumed he towered above everybody physically too…
I get my own plotlines and reality mixed up rather often…was there something about Nathan supposed to be meeting up with Ben in NY that led to his getting in trouble? Never mind…I’ll go ask at the forum instead…
Beautiful pages…looking forward (as always) to next week. So very thankful you’ve gone to twice a week :D
@Brent “Primus” is Enoch Hale. Nathan’s brother who also went to Yale. They were Hale Primus and Hale Secundus. lol
…Are we going to get to meet any of the other Hales, Lora? Or is that secret? lol
I love the fact that even though Nathan’s really cheered up by Ben’s arrival, there’s still something in his eyes in that last panel, you know? His mind is in two places.
Thanks. I thought it might be Samuel Hale because Nathan’s description of “Primus” seemed to fit that of a Hale who supported the redcoats and may or may not have recognised Nathan when he was doing …. something.
Oh gosh! College buddy banter is like… some of the best. Love this page! (Except for Alan looking so sick, poor guy.)
A note on that, though–I think it’s awesome how the colors are so warm for the reunion, and Alan and Bea seem dark and pale in comparision. It’s like Nathan has sort of stepped out of the war for a moment, but his friends aren’t able to.
Whoah! Short blog post!!! Notice I was waiting for you? lol I am a nerd beyond hope.
*giggles* Primus… *giggles again*
The incentive: Hahaha, BUSTED! Knowlton knows you were listening!!! XD
Gods, Nathan’s face—his eyes!!! You are going to make me cry!!! But Nathan dear, Alan is not going to be blown off that easily.
I think Ben and Nathan’s relationship is The Greatest Bromance Ever Told.
*snerk* …the best of it…The expression on Bea’s face there makes that the best introduction panel of the series, I swear to God…
Why do I have the feeling that Primus is Samuel Hale? If so….well, imminent reunions, and all that.
INCENTIVE CAPTION!!!
“That’s them, officer! That girl and that knave stole my tarts!!! Now I have nothing to serve at our tea cozy luncheon!”
Ohhhh all those handsome faces on one page. I’m really liking your Benjamin as well :)

Would it be possible to get a translation of the Latin? My classical language studies are sadly lacking. :)

Also, Nathan and his BFF are adorable.

@Half Moon: Yup, Al & Nate have that sort of bond! They made up from their big fight with just a meaningful glance as well: http://www.thedreamercomic.com/comic.php?id=205
@Gina: Thanks. ^__^ There was a lot of drawing & redrawing on this page to get that moment right!!
Oh oh, Nathan’s not looking so well. Perhaps he needs a cup of Earl Gray and a netty pot?

See? I’m learning!

@Brent Hope I helped! :)
*groans* Oh no! Now I have to wait until WEDNESDAY again for another update!
Each of these updates are making me so happy and yet so sad because I know how close the inevitable is. :(
@Alyssa: I noticed that too when Julie sent me the colors. 10 out of 10, Julie!!
*SOB* Nathan!! *squeezes him*
Much as these pages are killing me, the Linonia mention just warmed my history buff heart!
ALSO… BENJAMIN TALLMADGE!!! *yay*
(I feel like I’m playing Patriot Bingo, or something.)
Have I mentioned lately how much I love this comic?
Patriot Bingo? I am SO IN!!!
@ Lora: That just makes them even more awesome!
@ Faith (the other Faith): Can I play? ;D
@ Faith (The other Faith): Patriot bingo? Sounds like fun! Can I play too? ; ) That should be a game we set up every time the dreamer updates…
Oh, absolutely! Game on. =)
