I’ve got one new page for you- Page #5!

I apologize for the one page update. To keep the rest of the issue from getting messed up, there will be another one page update next Friday. In all honesty, apart from my computer breaking down (it’s all fixed now- new video card arrived on Wednesday!) working was hard after we got back from spending a few days at the hospital; my brain felt like it was swimming in really thick molasses–getting messages in and out of it took a lot of time and concentration. My father-in-law is finally home now, a big thank you all for all of your thoughts and prayers and concern!
We got some good news this week, though, The Dreamer won “Best Romance Comic” at the Drunk Duck awards again this year!
If one page of Dreamer isn’t enough for you today, I have all sorts of goodies for you! First is the TGT Webcomics Podcast event going on tonight, Friday September 4th: DO NOT MISS!
TGT Webcomics asked me to be a guest on their podcast! Listen live at http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/22928 at 6 PST/ 9 EST tonight! You all can chat up a storm there, too, and talk amongst yourselves, and I might chime into the chat, too, if it’s not too distracting. If you have any questions, email them to Kurt Sasso (ksasso@sympatico.ca) and he’ll be sure to ask me, and tell me who the question is from. He was kind enough to promise not to ask me the “Why the American Revolution?”, “A time traveling romance, how’d you come up with that?” or the “How did you wind up at IDW?” questions. So it should be a fun night for reader questions and… they’ve made me promise to give them a spoiler! Listen live, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun!
You want more, you say? TFAW, the online Comic Shop, interviewed me, and asked some really great character and story questions that I haven’t been asked before. (Some of the answers are a little spoilerish!) Jazma Online also interviewed me! And The Dreamer and I were featured in Publisher’s Weekly!
And if that isn’t enough for you, this week I opened a Fan Flow for The Dreamer! How it works is that you subscribe for 99 cents a month, and you get full access to anything I post. I’m using it to post all kinds of behind the scenes goodies. I’m enjoying it already, but the more the merrier is usually how these things work so sign up today! I posted my first entry as free, so that you all can check out what some of the content will be like. The free entry was posted last week, so the Fan Flow folks got to see today’s page in progress a week ago!
It’s a new month, so don’t forget to VOTE this week! I put up a preview of the next page!

Yay! An update! I enjoyed seeing the process on the Fan Flow. I kept sitting there looking at the pages wondering what they were saying. And congratulations for winning in the Drunk Duck awards!
Nathan is so…brooding! And he looks quite more handsome than wen we last saw him too! ;)
“Nothing important”, Alan? But they ARE important, curse it all! Bah!
I can’t wait to find out more about why their relationship is so complicated to Alan.
…
Why is their relationship so complicated to Alan?
It was worth asking. : D I’m sure the obvious things factor in, like familial political beliefs, wealth, and all that, but he makes it seem like there are more personal complicated things… : (
Great work, Lora! I was super excited to see the update, and I’m really glad to know your father-in-law is home and doing well.
Great update! Poor Alan…he looks so depressed and confused and sad…
I’m in love with fanflow, all I did this week was look at it. The interviews were really fun to read! Now we know that Bea was somehow involved with Lexington and Concord…involved enough to be accused of treason…interesting.
Glad to know you are enjoying the Fan Flow! I’m having a lot of fun posting stuff over there!
@Allison: For some reason Alan thinks that Bea is upset with him, and thinks she should remember everything before he’d ask something like that of her. Bea can’t remember what they fought about, and Alan’s not going to go there. There is also all the “familial political beliefs & wealth & stuff,” too, you’re right. Maybe one day he’ll tell her but… I have a feeling he’d rather not!
@Hannah: You know that’s only part of the story or I wouldn’t have given it away. :) There’s a little doodle about that untold story up over at DeviantART. I think it’s in the “Rough Stuff” folder.
LOL @ the Voting Incentive! They’re working hard, aren’t they?
Knowlton is a genius. Making these two sweat and break their backs on packing the baggage train will either get these pals back on solid footing, or they’ll kill each other. Either way, it gets sorted out. XD
Is it wrong of me to hope Nathan doesn’t mind his own business and finds out about Alan’s papers? I thought he was in the room when Knowlton said “Furlough”…
@Albone: Knowlton seems to have good insight into what makes people tick!
@Jenni: Well, I had made the text in Knowlton’s balloon smaller to suggest he was lowering his voice. I don’t like to go smaller than 7.5 on my font because then people start to complain they can’t read it on their screen. But if Nathan’s curiosity got the better of him, I wonder what he’d say…?
Man, I love waistcoats! =D
I really want to join the Fan Flow but when I tried earlier, it didn’t work. Oh well. I’ll just have to figure it out some other time.
New reader on board is really glad she found this! Everything about this comic is so amazing – your artwork, the story, and of course, the fact that there’s a comic about the American Revolution. YAY. *cough* history nerd says hello *cough*
(Plus, I love love love your Nathan Hale! And Col.Knowlton. And Alan. And… everybody, really)
In short: you’re great. :)
ps: is there any way for people outside the US to purchase the graphic novel?
@Ginny: I’m sorry it didn’t work! I hope you figure it out, we’d love to have you on there! :)
@Rose: Welcome!! You can definitely buy the graphic novel outside of the U.S. The ISBN# is: 978-1600104657 and the publisher is IDW Publishing. And if nothing else, you can order it online.
I’m loving the spoilers. I was wondering if that drawing on Deviantart was 4/19/75 or 9/1/74, good to know. And why she was kidnapped is one of the dreamer questions that just has been driving me crazy, thanks for the hints.
It’s good to hear your father and law is doing well, and congrats on the Award!
Lora, last night while I was babysitting I watched The Little Mermaid, and I couldn’t help but notice that Ariel’s facial expressions are often remarkably similar to Bea’s! Did I just stumble upon a total coincidence, or have you noticed this as well? : )
Talkshoe!? Awesome! I’ll have to write a note on my hand or something to remember to listen it. Loved today’s page, man I’m really itching to know what the dealio with Allen is. And poor Nathan. He did get pretty clobbered.
Great podcast Lora!! I really enjoyed it! : )
Awesome new page, but it’s such a tease! lol.
And I was so mad at myself – I’m leaving for college later today, so yesterday I was packing up all my stuff like mad, and I totally forgot about the TGT online…thingy. lol. I felt so guilty! I even put reminders on my phone and everything! Ack. Well, I’m sure it was amazing. :D I’ll just have to be unspoiled then. Ha.
Podcast was awesome, Lora! I liked the spoilers and am very excited to see Alexander Hamilton and Uncle Hercules. And I really want a plushie spontoon!
It’s kind of a shock to see these characters in sunlight- so far I’ve only seen them in the dark and in the rain! Also, I don’t believe I’ve ever mentioned that I love the fact that the boys in this comic have widow’s peaks. It’s a small detail, I know, but details add up.
Yes, Alan. Get rid of that cough RIGHT NOW!! … XD
Is the podcast going to be posted somewhere? We went to pick up my brother from the bus station since he’s visiting from college, so I missed it >.<
I’m glad your father-in-law is doing well!! And the new video card, too, lol =P
Oh, yeah! What Hannah said! I would buy a plushy spontoon!! ^^ teehee…
Hey, everyone. The podcast is here: http://tgtwebcomics.com/archive/2009/ep61-td/
Happy listening! :)
Yay!! Thanks Lora~!! *goes to listen*
