New Page #7

New Page #7!

Alan fires his gun.

Well, after hearing about him since Issue #1, you can finally meet Dr. Joseph Warren! He’s been an invisible member of the cast for a long time. (Remember this? Or this? Or that?) At the point of today’s update, Joseph Warren wasn’t quite “Dr.” Warren yet. He was wrapping up his apprenticeship with the esteemed Dr. Lloyd in Boston, but would teach a few years at the Latin School in Roxbury before returning to the city to start up a medical practice of his own.

Squeak! I’m not gonna lie. I drooled a bit…you did good, Lora. <3

Hahahaha! Shooting guns at night. He would. Alan, let’s go to the range tomorrow…

Hmm, lucky 13. Gotta pick your career. Serious business. I’m loving these flashbacks. The VI looks cute to boot!

You know, thinking again about page 6, when Bea is calling out for Knowlton, Nathan and Fred, she never got to say goodbye to Knowlton or Nathan. That’s so sad. She’s not going to see either of them again.

But I’m going to think, therefore, since she DID get to say goodbye to Alan (or rather he to her) that means HE is going to be fine…

  2. Caera says:

Oh and I’m glad the deadline is extended. I haven’t even gotten to start on my piece yet. If I even bother to do it. I’m not sure I can actually pull off what’s in my head.

  3. Tamesin says:

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA*inhale*AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!! JOSEPH!!! Nice to finally see his legs. You made *my* dreams come true, Lora!
    Goin’ to bed, now.

    • Lora says:

In all your excitement, you forgot to notice that John finally showed up too. ;)

      • Tamesin says:

Oh, I definitely noticed Little Jack, too! But I’ll wait until he’s older and more obsessive-compulsive to start razzing him. Right now, he’s sweet and innocent and should be enjoying his brother’s company.

        • Lora says:

He’s not *that* sweet. Sounds like he deserved that beating Alan gave him a few pages ago. XD

Ha ha, in the original script on this page I actually had him run back inside and you could hear the voices as he let Ebenezer and Sam know that *he* got to go to Boston with Joseph but they had to stay there, lol! There was no room for it in Panel 3 though, it was just distracting anyway I worked it.

    • Brent says:

      *pokes Joseph*

Wow….never seen someone get knocked unconscious by a glomp before.

      • David says:

@Half Moon: Just wondering, have you REALLY been attracted to Joseph since age five and if so how and why did that happen? Also, how will this affect you and Nathan? lol

        • Half Moon says:

hahaha! Nathan learned to share a LONG time ago! And I got attached to Joseph the same way as Layfeyette and Nathan….Liberty’s Kids! So yes, I was about five when I first encountered Joseph Warren. He was a year earlier than Nathan even! XD

          • David says:

Ah yes, I figured it might have something to do with Liberty’s Kids. I always thought it was funny that the show spanned across two decades during which the Kids didn’t seem to age a day! They should have been in their 30′s by the time the series ended, with the possible exception of that French boy. I know that show was geared for little kids but I would think they’d have noticed. lol

          • Caera says:

I was five when I fell for Nathan too, but that was a good decade before Liberty’s Kids came out. History books, man.

I forget when I first heard of Joseph. It was a long time ago, but I didn’t know as much about him until I was in middle school, and read Johnny Tremain and got into the other Revolution books.

          • Half Moon says:

You mean Henri? I loved him he was such a cutey!

  4. Faith says:

    *I* noticed John!! ;)

  5. Dr. Joseph one of my heroes and cute

  6. Brent says:

Jo-seph, what up bro? Goin’ good? Keeping clean? Nice…..

    ummm…..yeah.

I love Alan’s reasoning for firing the gun — “It’s okay, people are still awake! If i shoot someone, everything’ll be just fine!” And no, you can’t be a smith — you have to become a dirty apple farmer and meet Beatrice (she’s three and a half now, right?)!

Dr. Awesomesauce Joseph: “Alan, you have to make her remember! Show her your memories! Otherwise, she could die!”
Alan: “But she deserves normalcy! And it is so hard!”

(please note, Carlisle is being played by Joseph because one awesome doctor deserves another)

  7. deb says:

Can I squeeze the Warrens into a suitcase and take them home with me?! They’re made out of sacks of all kinds of precious!!! I can’t take it! Also, tomorrow’s my last paper for finals and I can’t wait to get to doing my piece for this year’s FanArtPollooza. Didn’t make it last year because of exams too (and it was Nathan themed too boohoo!) so I’m definitely not gonna miss out on this one!

    Wheeee!!!

  8. Rae says:

Glad we finally got to meet Doctor Warren :) I am loving the child version of Alan, he is angsty and cute! and maybe a bit of a trouble maker lol

  9. Hannah says:

Alan is completely adorable in the first panel. He looks just like a kid who’s about to do something TOTALLY AWESOME, even though he probably shouldn’t.

And, for the record, I have officially become a Joseph fangirl now. He’s so handsome! *drool*

  10. Beth W. says:

My eyes just had an overload of gorgeousness. Joseph, Alan, John… I want to keep them all!! Alan’s grin and those blue eyes, especially. My goodness! It’s the perfect cure for a head cold. I can now sleep happy. ^.^

Something about Joseph’s hair and closed-mouth smile makes me want to swoon into a heap. Being that he’s a doctor, I’m sure he could revive me. *raises eyebrow*

  11. Jen says:

Young colonial almost-doctor crush commencing in 3….2…1….

  12. Amber says:

Joseph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 *rushes up to him and glomps him* I love his expression on this page. Sigh.. Revolutionary heartthrob indeed… Now of Lafayette were to show up, I would not be able to get up from the floor!
OMG Joseph! I can’t believe he is here! Stand aside Justin Bieber, Joseph Warren is coming to town! :D

    • Lora says:

He’s only 21 and still single!

      • Amber says:

Ohh.. I better nab him before Elizabeth does.. wait.. won’t that change history? Uh,, Maybe I will impersonate as his daughter! Lol. That would be interesting! :)
We better have a medic with this comic, for all of us girls are one step away from having a heart attack! Maybe we can enlist Dr. John to help us…..

    • Half Moon says:

If LaFeyette comes into this comic….Ohhhh! Be still my fluttering heart!

      • David says:

Lafeyette isn’t due to arrive in America until sometime in 1777, and at the current pace of this storyline you’re in for a LONG wait! And just what is it with you and 18th century men anyway? Is it the clothes and long hair and the fancy way they talk, etc.? Or have I just answered my own question? I think you and the other fangirls are suffering from some “Historical Romance Novel Syndrome”! lol

  13. David says:

Hah! She said “Revolutionary heartthrob”! I may have coined a new term. But anyway, speaking of the Revolution, the Boston Tea Party took place on this date in 1773. Sip on THAT, King George! lol

  14. Jaimie says:

AHH! just got my Dreamer shirts!! Win! I was wearing my I<3NathanHale shirt when I read today's update which was awesome as usual! Naw lil' Alan is adorable with his little musket and tricorn!
Oh, and Lora, your parents' house looks so nice at night with the Christmas lights on (Mary Ann next door is driving my mom crazy because she tells us every time we're over there how nice it looks, to which my mom indignantly protests that our house looks nice too!)

    • Lora says:

Jaimie, this cracked me up. OF COURSE Mary Ann did that, lol. I have so many crazy wonderful memories growing up on that street….! Like the time she told us that she happened to be watching our house with binoculars and the biggest bird she’d ever seen in her life flew over our roof.

That’s great, Mary Ann but back up to the “watching our house with *binoculars*” part…

So glad you like your shirts. <3

      • Jaimie says:

lol she just so *happened* to be watching your house…. I forgot about the binoculars! Yeah I remember when she kept a pair right by the window to “keep an eye on things”…. Luckily she seems to have given up using them as I haven’t seem them in a long time. OH! and I think my mom bought me The Dreamer Volume II online Yay! even more Dreamer!

      • bunny cruiser says:

We were informed that the deer are in the wrong place. Last year they were in the middle of the yard…….and this year they are on the side of the house – where the big tree hides them from her view. Also, we need lights on the porch and down the stairs.

  15. Grace says:

I drooled all over my computer screen…

Everything is lovely and nothing hurts.

  16. David says:

@Lora: I think you recommended a particular book about Joseph Warren a while back that sounds interesting but I can’t remember the title and author’s name. Please let me know so I can look it up at the library.

    • Lora says:

Look for info on this on monday. :)

      • David says:

Thanks, and while he won’t deserve it until 1780, maybe Benedict Arnold could be known as “General Stinkyfink”?

        • Lora says:

Arnold petitioned Congress (successfully) to get hard currency (not worthless Continental paper money) for Joseph Warren’s orphans. The oldest boy “Jose” was able to Harvard thanks to Benedict Arnold. SO I can never be totally loathed to that pox-ridden lobsterback. ;)

          • David says:

Well, that was nice of that treacherous vermin. I’ll just reserve “General Stinkyfink” for when Arnold actually started to deal with the British in 1780. The big irony of Arnold is that if he had died before that time, maybe at Saratoga, he’d most likely be remembered as a HERO of the Revolution.

          • Lora says:

He may have been doing it to look good as he didn’t have much of a relationship with Warren at all and it happened not long before he switched sides.

  17. trevor says:

    Another fantastic comic page, Lora!

  18. Brent says:

    YOU READ THIS!!!
