I really have liked getting to know Bea’s dad better, and you’ve had some beautifully written dialogue over the last few pages. The kind of dialogue that will stick with me quietly and resurface whenever I’m in need of a little wisdom. The art is really nice on this page too.
Good ol’ Dad! And can’t wait for more dream time next week. lol
In my opinion, Bea’s dad supplied the only bit of wisdom that actually has the potential to help her out. I look forward to finding out how Bea feels about this advice. :D
Wow… I really love this page. Her dad is very sweet, and quite wise, it seems to me. The last few pages in this scene have all been beautiful, but this one is my favorite.
Seriously, I love her dad. He’s very smart, and reminds me a lot of my dad. And he gave some of the best advice I’ve seen! Nice dialogues! Can’t wait for the next episode ;) I’ve really been enjoying this comic for it’s story and it’s great artwork, a rare combo victory! Kudos!
I loved the conversation between Bea and her dad! It really brought some insight into the story. I sure hope he made Bea feel better… I cannot wait to see what those boys are up to next week! It looks like they are telling a tale tale! : )
i agree with the others – dad’s finally stepping up to the plate and playing a parental, paternal role – and doing it well. what a relief! and i like his advice. now giving up a real-life man for a dream one is so ridiculous and has been going on for so long, i hope this part will be resolved soon. i do love alan warren, but he is not real in her time.
Ok, Bea’s dad is the smart parent!
Just saw the vote preveiw….Alan’s nitwits are back????
Bea’s dad knows how to say the wisest thing in the fewest words.
Yay the past is back next week! I was beginning to miss them :)
I heart Bea’s dad. ^_^
Yay! That’s exactly the advice I’d give her! Her dad is awesome!
i totally want to high five bea’s dad! cant wait to find out if she listens to his advice!
Glad you all enjoyed Mr. Whaley advice! I’d hoped this scene had a different (more mature) voice than Bea’s conversations with Liz and Yvette. It’s nice to know it came through that way!
@Half Moon: Looks like you’ll have to wait and see..! :)
Bea’s dad is sweet. That’s some good advice… I like that they have a good relationship!
Also…I find her dad really hot. (There is something wrong with me!)
Best fatherly advice ever. Bea’s dad is awesome.
lora, i’m pasting an actual email invitation i received today, to a play called “The Dreamer” here in jerusalem. thought you might be amused!
The Dreamer, an entertaining, thought-provoking one-man play written and performed by Jonathan Gillis, directed by Nurith Cohn, opens for the first time in the atmospheric Khan Theatre, Jerusalem.
Pharaoh’s head baker sounds like someone from the North of England of today who’s dropped into Ancient Egypt. When arrested and put into prison for reasons unknown, it is the mindset of our own times that he brings to his bewildering new reality. Through him, a well-known Biblical story is brought startlingly into the present, and with surprising results.
Jonathan Gillis, a writer, actor, lawyer and teacher, was born and grew up in Sunderland in the north of England, and has lived half his life in Jerusalem. In 2009-2010 he studied at the prestigious school of creative writing at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, where he received an MA with Distinction. The play, ‘The Dreamer’, was developed from one of the pieces he wrote while on this course. It premiered, to great acclaim, at the Limmud Conference this year in the UK, at the University of Warwick.

@Spas: That’s awesome! I love that story, lol. I mean, the original version anyway. This sounds like a lot of fun, are you going?
well, i am not a fan of one-man plays. in a word? indulgent. or self-indulgent! but…maybe i will go and drag some of the volunteer dentists with me. they are always looking for what to do in jerusalem, and they love to accompany me to things they believe i might do on my own here, for entertainment. (they would hardly appreciate the seedy art galleries and hipster underground i frequent, so it’s best to keep their frivolous notions alive) on the off-chance i do this, it will be in good part to report back to you with my findings (though i wouldn’t hire me as a critic!) i had a solo vocal once in a performance of joseph and the technicolor dreamcoat. i sang from back stage, for joseph, while he sat in his jail cell alone onstage.
i feel for joseph. even after his big comeback, he was still rather alone, if you think about it. being famous and powerful sounds less alluring than being surrounded by people you love who love you back.
