New Page #34!

Cut it out, guys, it's just too sweet. It's too much.
I have Convention News this week!
As we’ve been talking about, the FIRST Official Dreamer Meet Up will happen in Boston next month at Anime Boston, April 6-8! Look for me in Artists Alley, at Booth #30.
The official meet up event will be a panel at the convention at 5:30 on Saturday (I’m told that is subject to change up until the show. If I hear anything, of course I’ll let you know). So mark that slot off on your calendar!
I’ll be at my booth all weekend, selling graphic novels, prints, “A Providential Hello” comics, magnets, charms, Knowlton’s Rangers tee shirts, original commissioned art and buttons!
Julie Wright, the Volume 2 colorist, will be at the booth right next to mine, so you can have her sign your book as well. And take a minute to tell her how much you love her work and appreciate all she does around here!
If you’re going to be at the show, leave me a comment in this blog post and let me know what YOU want to do on our official Dreamer panel. A Q & A session will definitely be a part of it, but what else do you hope to do? This is your time with me! I’d love to spend it how you want.
And last, attention all Cosplayers: We will have SPECIAL treats for anyone who shows up in Dreamer cosplay to the show!
(If all of that isn’t enough to get you to that show, it is… my birthday weekend. I can’t think of a better present than to hang out with all of you in person!)
And also, the following weekend I’ll be at C2E2 in Chicago, April 13-15, sharing a booth with Alan Evans of Rival Angels fame. We’ll be at Booth #G14.
I’ll have all of the same merchandise, and you can have Alan Evans sign your “A Providential Hello” comic, too!
As always, VOTE to preview the next page!

Major D’awww!!! Though of course, I think we all figured that Bea cared more about Alan and less about politics. Later on, who knows? *evil grin*
The VI: Well it looks like Dr. John has some grilling to do with Bea, since Alan’s still out of it.
As for the cosplay, some of us have a conspiracy afoot and I hope you like it. lol And what do you want for your birthday?
As for the panel, I’m not sure about that, but I do want to visit a certain Tavern, and Trail…and Jen and I are going to a certain Church for services Easter Sunday. :D
I CAN’T WAIT!!!!
…I’m now jelous…I want to go with you for Easter, cuz without asking I know where you’re going…but I can’t….Oh well, back to drawing certian pix. XD
Old North Church? Too fun.
Aren’t you the girl who already bought me Nathan Hale stamps for my birthday?? I think you’re good. :)
I know, but that was your birthday like, 3 years ago. That’s the funny thing about birthdays, Lora; they’re kind of an annual thing!
Only until you turn 29, m’dear……at least that’s what I hear.
it’s 39, and I think that only worked for Jack Benny…
Caera’s quoting Tangled :D
music of the moment! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gKooEPqbkA
Ye gods……that was bitchawesome music right there.
Ditto.
Major tearful fluff in tonight’s uploaded page! I love it!
The VI: OH NO…. doesn’t look good…. ALAN NOOOO! Hold on!
Beautiful page. Mr. Warren doesn’t seem to be at all upset by Miss Whaley’s preference of him over politics ;)
However … sniff … it doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to make it to the Con after all. My folks are moving to Alaska tomorrow, and all my spare cash is going to plane tickets for me and the Punkin to go visit them this year some time. $1300 a ticket means no Boston for this Dreamer :(
Majorly bummed. And I was going to dress up too :( :( :(
You’ll be missed, Nessili!
p.s. I don’t know where you live, but here in Ohio it’s been over 70 degrees all week. Time for Thomas Knowlton to take his earmuffs off…!
I’m in VA, and it’s been absolutely gorgeous here too, but I can’t take Knowlton off yet–his “I’m gonna splat you good, Whaley” grin just makes my day every time I turn on my computers (yes, that pic is on both laptop and desktop). If you could post a pic of him sans earmuffs, I will gladly bring the Colonel into Springtime :)
Don’t feel bad Nessie. I can’t afford going either, no matter how much I REALLY want to go! Drat being unemployed and on a limited budget. I would have gone as Nathan or Bea or somebody. I actually kind of look like Bea….
Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I wasn’t flat broke after buying MY ticket I’d pay for yours. I vote we all have a Bring-Nessie-To-Boston fundraiser!
Thanks!
I feel all loved and stuff. Warm fuzzies all over :D
Perhaps when To Appomattox comes out, Lora can come down to my neck of the woods and we can have a Civil War meet-up instead :)
omg this update had me squealing! From the VI it looks like we get to see sick Alan again. I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad….he better pull through!!
Awwwwwww!!!! :-D If I grin anymore at this I think my face might *SCHPLURP!</i* Oop, there it goes
Just asked for the 7th off today, so I'm definitely coming. It's going to be interesting going back home considering it's 2.5 hours each way, but YUS! I'm in. (though maybe not so much for the cosplaying….too much for my budget and timing, unless i think of something). Cross your fingers that I get my refund soon so I can deliver on all this!
As for a panel….well, I have called you "educational", have I not? ;-) ;-)
INCENTIVE CAPTION!!
John: “Erm, Miss Whalley….when I said lift and pull, I meant ‘up’, not ‘in’.”
Beatrice: “Ohhhhh…..got it. (to Alan) Soon, my unconscious sweet….”
John: “Still right here….”
Okay, there was a typo in one of my italic enders there. Sorry.
Brent, you should consider taking the train in and back. You wouldn’t have to deal with traffic or parking, and the cost is less than it’ll take to keep your gas tank full. Sit back and let someone else do the driving! And Back Bay station is only a 15-minute walk from the Hynes. Just a thought.
I was considering that actually. I guess I’m just worried about line switching and timing, is all (and cost, of course….always a concern with me, that is).
“Educational”? You guys want… a history lesson?
Not spoilers? LOL.
Well, history lesson it is then! XD
X-D Well, you know,…..that or a historical role-playing type thing.
Aw…that’s so sweet :)
Sorry for not having a more thorough comment than that, but that’s really the very first thing that came to mind.
:)
D’AWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :3 thisissooooocute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I am getting such a Beauty and the Beast vibe from them right now…<3<3;D
:-) Tale through all of time…..dah-da-dah-da-duhhhhh….
*eyetwitch*….”Tale As Old As Time/Song As Old As Ryme…” *is Disney superfreak*
*giggles* At least I wasn’t the only one who twitched…
hehe *evil grin* he better be glad he didn’t mess up anything Sleeping Beauty….then we’d have REAL issues….
Amen to that one! :) Sleeping Beauty will always be my favorite.
Iiiii kknnnoowww youuu I walked with you one upppooonnn a ddreeeaaammm!!!!
OH. MY. GOSH. I never realized that song was so relevant to the Dreamer…lol
Now that you mention it…. IT IS! *freak out moment*
Hehe! Yes it issss!!! *sigh* Nathan will always = Philip from now on…..<3<3<3
:-) Actually Halfie, I was making a Dreamer version of that. Gotcha!
lol ok, now I don’t have to keel you…;D
This also appears to be taking place around the same time as BATB. JUST a coincidence?
……I’m thinking yes. Now, if it happens that another movie about a certain deformed Parisian with an affinity for bells is also happening “now”, then I’d be worried.
Must have been the time period.
Hunchback was set in an earlier time…don’t ask me how I know, it’s just the feel of the movies are set apart in eras
I don’t know if she can sing, but otherwise I think Bea would make a perfect Belle. Oh, and I’m pretty sure BATB had NOTHING to do with Paris. I’m not certain if it was actually even set IN France. Probably in one of those fictional countries Disney is always making up.
Actually, I’m pretty sure it was France, think of how much they were using the language and food
Oh, I’m aware of all the French-related stuff, which makes the setting a bit more “specific” than in most Disney “fairy-tale” type movies where they never actually name the country in which the story is taking place. Since the Beast was a prince and there is certainly no mention of a member of the French monarchy having such an “affliction” I must presume we’re dealing with some kind of alternate/parallel-history version of 18th century France. I think THAT’S what I meant to say and it’s about the only explanation I can think of that would make sense.
lol yeah, that makes sense…though the most spcific I’ve ever seen a Classic Disney Fairytale movie be is still Sleeping Beauty, just because they actually mention the era in the movie, and the arcutecture is DEFINATLY English
Hold on! Maybe the story takes place in some fictional country that just SEEMS like France. You know, like how they speak German in Austria and Liechtenstein but it’s NOT Germany.
Also, SB must obviously be in a “different” England than the one we know of.
First to BATB …Canada???
Second to SB no it’s not…it’s the same one from HP :D
….O.o IT JUST ATE PART OF MY COMMENT!!!!!
Edit* As for AB: Do anyhting you like…I may be shellshocked from all the awesome anyway! Oh, and you may or may not regret posting that it’s your Birthday weekend…O>;D
HA! I, err, take it back? It’s not my birthday?
lol too late!!! ;D besides, I never plan anything bad…
FUCK I’M GOING TO BE IN CHINA! Not that I’m complaining of course, but so many kickass things are happening this year at Anime Boston. Kind of makes me sad, not gonna lie.
I once skipped my high school end of the year band trip to San Antonio to go to a comic convention. True story.
You’ve at least been to San Antonio since then right? :) Can’t miss out on one of the epic Texas historical sites, ya know!
I’m actually a bit upset that I won’t be able to make it to Boston as well. My husband and I (still feels weird typing that) were planning to have our next big trip be to Boston, but it wouldn’t have been this year since we honeymooned in Vegas in Jan/Feb…and we decided that we should have an international trip before we settle down to start a family, so now our next big trip will be London.
Oh well…Boston another time. It will still be an awesome place to be…even without the added Dreamer fan fun.
I have been to San Antonio. We had gone my freshman year with the Band.
And you didn’t visit me in San Antonio. *sigh* but then again we didn’t know each other.
And CHINA!?!??!! I want to gooo sooo bad!!! ?????!!!!!!?!!!!!
Hey, it replaced my Chinese characters with question marks. No fair. I can’t even rant in Mandarin!
??????
Did it work that time?
*sigh*
See, I knew they wouldn’t kiss yet (at least not this page). Colonial courtship norms aside (which I realize are way less strict than Victorian or even later Regency (Federal? Is that what we’d call the Regency era in the US?)) I don’t think 18th century Bea and Alan have quite gotten to the point where they’d be kissing. Especially since they still call each other “Mr. Warren” and “Miss Whaley.” I could be wrong.
Either way that embrace is way more sweet and romantic right now than a kiss would be. (I’m gonna be a little mush-pot and admit that’s how my hubby hugs me when I’m worried and upset about something.)
Either that or an angry Mr. Whaley could “interrupt” this sweet moment before they could get to the kissing part. NOW would be the perfect time to do it. I wonder what’s keeping him. Any ideas?
*sigh* I’ve always imagined saying such things to a certain Mr. Warren…
re. AB: I’ll be there! Thought of dressing up as a Spunker, but I don’t know if they’ll let me bring a shovel on the train. Not much for costumes, but I do have a number of applicable thematic tshirts. That works, right?
re. VI: oh sure, John. Let Bea handle the icky end. Nice.
I always think the “No real weapons” rule at Anime shows is hilarious because it is necessary.
It’s kind of the opposite of “rules were made to be broken”. Reminds me of a book I read on EMT training, where they actually had to tell the class (**ICK ALERT**:
1. Do not try to replace someone’s organs if they are hanging from their body.
2. Do not give CPR to a severed head.
3. Do not try to revive someone who is in a state of advanced decomposition.
4. If you have a patient whose leg or arm is partially amputated, do not pull it off to make things “neat”.
Yeah. That means someone actually *did* those things, at least once. (Credit: Ambulance Girl by Jane Stern.)
Man, I’m gonna miss my shovel…
Okay, 1 and 4 I can see making sense, but 2 and 3, with the severed head and the zombieness? Yeesh…..
Yeah, really! WTH?
lol…I hadn’t thought about that. The head probably is the icky end…and the heavy end…but it’s also the end that Bea would likely want to keep close to her anyhow. :)
*like*
Aw…such an awesome page… :)
Dang. I can’t see ANY OF YOU guys at the meetup! :( I’m in the boonies’ of PA, and my parents would not be very happy with hauling my rear up to Boston for a comic con. :(
I grew up in the boonies of Pennsylvania. It’s a good place to be but man, that accent will stick to you like glue! My husband says mine comes out in full force every time I go home.
What does a PA boonies accent sound like? I’ve never heard it (or if I have I didn’t realize it).
You can pretty much watch anything by Pittsburgh Dad and it will be like stepping into my house growing up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB36tuiG3u4&feature=relmfu
Wow… I’m from Chicago and I can barely hear that ‘accent’. Then again I don’t sound like Chicago (not many people in the suburbs have the city sound that others associate with our area) and I’ve been influenced by my dad, a southerner. For example, I grew up saying “catty-corner” and it wasn’t until I was an adult that a friend looked at me strangely and asked, “Is that like… the same as kitty-corner?” I’d never heard of kitty-corner!
Well, in Pittsburgh “Milk” and “Elk” rhyme. A Window Sill is pronounced Window “Seal.” You is singular, and “Yous” is plural. And you wosh dishes, you don’t wash them or even warsh them.
And if you’ve ever used “yinz,” it’s the real deal.
Wow! xD I have an accent huh? Hm. It’s not really that noticiable compared to a New Yorker’s accent or a Southern’ers.
Oh well. Sometime after I’m done celebrating me getting my driver’s license (*cough* two years from now *cough*) , I can totally meet all you fellow history geeks of the Dreamer fandom. Maybe by then, the meet-ups will be a regular thing. :)
Squeee! Lovely page, as usual!
*makes note of meetup time in calendar. Also makes note to bring plenty of cash*
I will also be in the Artists’ Alley at Anime Boston, booth 38cd. Here’s hoping I’ll be able to take some time for the meetup; it will depend largely on how busy things get and what my table partner has planned as well.
Awesome!! It’s only an hour long panel. I’m sure you can get a buddy to watch your table for you. At least a GOOD table buddy would do such a thing!
Stop by and say hello. There’s some kind of artists-only art card swap going on? I was going to order mine today actually. Just couldn’t decide on which piece to use.
Not sure about the card swap. I do jewellery anyway, which makes it difficult to do cards. But I will definitely be stopping by and saying hello! My table is at the other end of the row from yours, near as I can tell.
I just read about it on the artists page. No one had told me about it. I ordered some to be safe though!
Can’t you feel the love tonightttttttttt?
That is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this! Awwwwwww!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7XLnxKlYEo
^_^
YAY!!! More Disney referances!!!
Well, Alan and Simba DO both have the hair-thing goin’ on. And while we’re on “Disney stuff”, have you ever noticed that Alan bears a suspicious resemblance to John Smith?
Yet Yevette is the one who could pass for Pocohantas….hmmmm
Wellllll, I think Yvette’s complexion is more “Bronze” than “Copper”.
Actually I was thinking more of build and um…”spunk”
In THAT case, definitely!
Lol, ok so we have Bea=Belle Yvette=Pocohantas and Liz=??? Snow White maybe? (after all John could pass for Grumpy)
Liz would have to dye her hair black or at least wear a wig. A BLONDE Snow White just wouldn’t seem right!
Liz is a Cinderella! I could see her hanging out with cute little rodents- she’s nice to everyone.
Y’know, I have never been able to get over that “Come hither” look Nala has there…..even as a kid I (kinda) knew what it meant.
Aww, he gets a tender moment…in his night gown. With his boots strewn about.
Although, to be fair, his place looks a little less messy in that final panel. Perhaps just his sleeping area is messy. Clearly someone’s mother needs to tell him to “clean his room.” ;)
Typical bachelor pad.
Damn straight! WOOT!
Hell, yeah!
This page was just amazing, so many feels <3
I have a Howe cosplay mostly finished, sadly I live in Europe so I can't join you guys, wish I could though sounds so much fun! D:
Awww i think this is the cutest one yet and i don’t know why!
I love the fact that Bea is hugging a man in his house, in his nightgown, and she still calls him Mr. Warren. :)
Well they’re not married yet, so…..
omg, what if Yevette ever found out about THIS!?!?!?!???
Technically that’s a “different” Bea from before the “dreaming” started, so I’m not sure how Yvette would ever find out. Unless maybe the two Bea’s thoughts and memories ever “merge” together. In that case she’ll be jumping up and down and squeeling “OMG! You go, girl!”, or something like that.
Sure, it’s “cute” and all, but does anyone else think Bea STILL addressing Alan as “Mr. Warren” is starting to get a bit redundant by now? And yes, I’m aware of 18th century “good manners”!
My sister and I were reading the new page and on the lat scene we were wondering ” are bea and Alan still hugging or standing or kissing.. I’m confused..:)
It didn’t reduce well. In print you should be able to see it better but it just got too small for on screen. Sorry about that! I usually try to make sure it all looks good for web and print, but this time I failed.
She has her head on his shoulder.
That VI looks very promising indeed! :)
WAIT Lora you live in Ohio?! Unlike Boston, Ohio is reachable for me, lol. I suppose I will have to bide my time until you do an Ohio con during some time when I am not shut in a classroom with a bunch of howling 8th graders! Then–cosplay. Ooooh the Dreamer cosplay that will happen–!
I usually do several Ohio shows. Mid Ohio Con (Columbus) in the fall is the big one. I’ll be at Packrat Comics on Free Comic Book Day in May in Hillard.
Adorable! I’ll be at Anime Boston, by the way! Extremely excited!
You will?! My heart just leapt with excitement. I owe you a drawing. I’ll do it at the show. What day will you be there?
Wouldn’t miss it! Especially if it’s only a short drive/train ride away! Haha, I appreciate it! Thank you! And I should be there on Saturday, if all goes according to plan.
