Page #38: April 19th, 1775

New Page #38!

Joseph Warren is excited about the Lexington Alarm.

It's Pizza Friday! Who could be cross on Pizza Friday?!

There was no turning back after April 19th, 1775. The shot heard round the world had been fired on Lexington Green and Britain would be at war with her American Colonies for the next 8 years. Fighting on that day lasted before the sun came up until a haggled army of Redcoats made their way back into Boston, 20 miles away that night. Once back in the city, the Americans laid siege to the city, effectively trapping the British Army inside of Boston where they would stay for nearly a year.

Well, I’m leaving tomorrow for 11 days, road tripping from Columbus to Anime Boston to C2E2 Chicago and then home again.  As a result, there will be no comic update this Friday the 6th or next Wednesday the 11th. Regular updates will resume on April 14th.

Anime Boston, April 6-8!  Artists Alley, at Booth #30.

Come see me on one of my panels:

Paper Wings Making Comics Panel 107, Friday 5:30.

Official Dreamer Meet Up Panel 107, Saturday 4:00.

(Make sure you check panel times when you arrive. There is a chance times might change.)

Don’t forget: Old South Meeting House is offering $1 off admission if you show your copy of The Dreamer during Anime Boston, April 5 – 9th!

C2E2 in Chicago, April 13-15.  Artists Alley at Booth #G14.

  1. Amber says:

    Oh Joseph!

Some days I think I love you too much!
Ok… I need smelling salts! I am not prone to swooning, but I think I just might on this occasion.

Unfortunately the VI did not update for me. :( Sadness.

And Lora, I hope you have a great time at the Anime Convention! Sorry I will not be able to attend. Maybe next time. :)

  2. Hannah says:

Is it just me, or is Alan looking extremely fine in that last panel?

Also, Joseph just keeps getting cooler and cooler. WHY MUST YOU LEAVE US JOSEPH?

  3. Caera says:

This page made me sad, actually…but the VI made me drool a little. :P

  4. Tess says:

    Why, helloooo there VI :}

  5. Brent says:

Oh, look at that face, Alan! How can you stay mad at that face?

In light of everything we know, that last panel is especially poignant. So sad he is….

So, is anyone else re-reading everything for saturday, or is that just me?

    INCENTIVE CAPTION!!!

    John: “My god….the Dreamers….there’s just so many…”
    Caera: “Get him, girls!”
    Sarah: “Finally!”
    John: “Oh, shit.” *hides*

  6. Sarah says:

OMG what am I going to do without updates for a whole week!?!?!? I guess I’ll survive… even though it is the highlight of my week… don’t know if I should admit that. haha I hope you have a fun, safe and awesome trip! I’ll be anticipating your arrival and more updates!

  7. Half Moon says:

    I love Joseph in this page so much <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  8. KitakLaw says:

First of all…ROFL. What’s up with the thumbnail caption, Lora: “Pizza Friday”???

As for the page itself, there’s not much I can say here that I haven’t done before, which would essentially be me gushing over Alan, Joseph, the dynamic between them, and the story all over again. I’m really curious where you’re going to go with this, because…it just hit me today that, with all the appearances you’ve been giving Joseph in these flashbacks lately…I think I know where you’re going with this. Maybe. Just maybe. And…I can’t exactly say I’m looking forward to it. But history is what it is, so do what you must – I trust you. :)

    • Lora says:

Isn’t pizza Friday the best day of any school week?!

And I have no idea what you’re talking about. I haven’t read that far ahead… ;)

      • Julie says:

Yes, pizza Friday was the best day…except when it was fish Friday…although they always had chili for those of us who didn’t like cafeteria fish. :) I always mixed about 6 or 7 packages of crushed saltines into my chili to make a chili paste…and then I dipped my french fries in it… *happy food memories* Okay…maybe fish Friday wasn’t so bad. :P

  9. Sam1775 says:

April 19, 1775 was a Wednesday. But who could argue with Pizza on Friday?

  10. Rae says:

    yay cousin heartwarming moment!!

  11. David says:

“They won’t find out”. Yeah, riiiiiight.

  12. trevor says:

Never be cross on pizza Friday. Unless someone else took two slices, thus denying you any pizza. Then heads will roll!

  13. kt says:

Was I the only one who laughed hysterically after I finished off the “Don’t be cross with me. Not today of all days” with “NOT ON REX MANNING DAY!”

  14. Liz says:

Hey, is there an RSS feed that I can use? I just had to update my RSS, and I can’t find one for this comic. I seem to recall that previously this RSS wouldn’t work, but this may be my imagination. Maybe it’s down for maitenence? Maybe I’m inept at finding things? Maybe I’m crazy? :)

    • Lora says:

If you’re on the comments/ blog page it’s up in your http://… bar. If you’re on the home page of the website, go to the left sidebar and it’s under “Updates Weds & Fridays.”

      Hope that helps!
